Reading Round Up

Brenda St John Brown

I need to get back to a serious writing schedule, but my reading is on track! Books I've read this week:

Third Degree by Julie Cross - Story of prodigy Isabella Jenkins figuring out where and how emotions fit into her well-ordered brain. With the help of a cute RA. I liked this, but if I had to choose, I'd still choose Julie Cross's Whatever Life Throws At You.

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han -- Revenge! And mean girls. And the girls they've been to. This had a Pretty Little Liars vibe to me (even though there is no A) and it ended with a cliffhanger. Luckily the whole series is out, so I'm stalking the library for the next book as we speak.

99 Days by Katie Cogutno -- This is a YA and the relationships are messy and complicated. Molly, the main character, makes some bad choices -- and then she keeps making them! But, it's well-written and I really liked this.

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray -- I just started this one, but I've seen it highly recommended time and time again. It's historical paranormal (I think), which is a weird combination, so will report back.

Books on my Wishlist:

The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick -- This is going to be my gift to myself for finishing the draft of TRUTHS WE TELL because it's $10 for an e-book. I think it's totally going to be worth every penny, but I need some motivation to write! Related: If you haven't read Fitzpatrick's My Life Next Door, it introduces these characters and their complicated story. It's also a fab read.
